Prior to booking me as your doula, we will meet for a free consultation to determine how our personalities will mesh and make sure you will be comfortable with my presence during labor and birth. We can do this in the comfort of your home or at a neutral place like a coffee shop you love.I encourage you to meet with several birth doulas and find the best fit for you and your family.
2. PHONE & EMAIL SUPPORT
After retaining my birth doula services, I am available to you day and night by both phone and email. No question or concern is too silly, and there is no such thing as TMI in my book.
3. PRENATAL VISITS
If you feel I’m the right doula for you, we will meet two to three times prior to your labor so I can become familiar with the details of the birth you wish to have, discuss and work through any concerns, and collect any other relevant details. We will discuss the labor process, ideas for comfort measures, birth plan assistance, watch a short video, and go through a labor rehearsal together.
4. ON-CALL FOR LABOR
I go “on call” for you two weeks before your estimated due date and remain available to you until baby arrives. When you are ready for me to join you, I will provide continuous support, both at home and in your birthing space of choice. I provide comfort measures to assist you with coping, support mom and partner as needed, and reassurance to help you remain empowered. I also offer to snap a pictures during your labor and birth, if desired.
5. BABY’S FIRST FEEDING
I will stay 1-2 hours after your baby’s birth and help you establish breastfeeding, if desired.
6. POSTPARTUM FOLLOW-UP VISIT
After your baby’s birth we will have another visit to discuss your birthing experience, review how baby and parents are adjusting and provide any additional referrals that may be needed.
